The 50+ Skills Exchange Club to launch in Horsham

Beta Futures, working in partnership with Horsham District Council and DWP, is pleased to announce that they will be launching The 50+ Skills Exchange Club in Horsham on Thursday 28 April at 10.30am at the Drill Hall, Denne Road, Horsham, RH12 1JF.

The 50+ Skills Exchange Club aims to bring people together on a weekly basis to socialise and learn new skills. It also supports individuals who are wishing to get back into work or pursue volunteering opportunities in the local community.

The 50+ Skills Exchange Clubs in Redhill and Crawley have benefitted from a variety of sessions including first aid, photography skills, computer skills and social media training. They have also welcomed a range of speakers from local charities such as Chestnut Tree House and Rocking Horse, pension advice groups and wellbeing groups. Social events including theatre trips and Christmas lunches have also been enjoyed by club members.

Cabinet Member for the Local Economy Cllr Gordon Lindsay commented:

“The introduction of this skills club for the over 50s will contribute to improving local residents’ employment prospects and general business growth for the district. It will also do much to encourage local community spirit and I would urge as many eligible people as possible to come along and benefit from the many opportunities on offer.”

Gaby Aldrich, The 50+ Skills Exchange Club Manager, said:  “Beta Futures is really excited to work with the council and  have this opportunity to engage with the 50 plus age group in Horsham, offering opportunities to share and develop personal skills, receive further training and not least, to have some fun!”

The whole community is warmly invited to the Horsham launch. Come along for some light refreshments and learn about The 50+ Skills Exchange Club from club members themselves. RSVPs to gaby@betafutures.com or visit their website: http://www.betafutures.com/newsite/club.html.

5 Reasons to Invest in Training for your Employees

Beta Futures has developed a programme of Master Classes that cover a variety of topics – the first of which will be taking place on 9th March 2016.  We are also  able to offer bespoke training designed for your business needs. We thought it would be useful to outline the business benefits of investing in training for your employees:

  1. Increase job satisfaction, productivity, and motivation among employees.

Training can reduce absenteeism, mistakes and stress levels for your employees. Productivity is also likely to increase if employees are confident in their own ability and feel they know what they’re doing.

  1. Reduce employee turnover

By investing in your employees, you are showing that you value their contribution in the company and that you are willing to allocate resources to developing their skills. Employees are then left feeling motivated, driven and a sense of loyalty to the company. Staff retention is a key factor not least of which because it reduces the high cost of recruitment.

  1. Competitive advantage

Keeping up to date with trends and changing technologies in your industry ensures that your business remains competitive in terms of performance, quality and customer service. Having well trained staff means that you can adapt methods of working to meet market demand.

  1. Decrease need for supervision

Untrained employees can drain your management resources and distract your managers from their own work and important tasks. By investing in staff training, employees feel confident within their own role and you can trust them to deliver high quality work.

  1. Enhance company profile & attract talented staff

Organisations that invest in training are seen as desirable to those looking for employment. This increases your company’s likelihood of attracting talented candidates for your vacancies.
