Beta Futures, working in partnership with Horsham District Council and DWP, is pleased to announce that they will be launching The 50+ Skills Exchange Club in Horsham on Thursday 28 April at 10.30am at the Drill Hall, Denne Road, Horsham, RH12 1JF.
The 50+ Skills Exchange Club aims to bring people together on a weekly basis to socialise and learn new skills. It also supports individuals who are wishing to get back into work or pursue volunteering opportunities in the local community.
The 50+ Skills Exchange Clubs in Redhill and Crawley have benefitted from a variety of sessions including first aid, photography skills, computer skills and social media training. They have also welcomed a range of speakers from local charities such as Chestnut Tree House and Rocking Horse, pension advice groups and wellbeing groups. Social events including theatre trips and Christmas lunches have also been enjoyed by club members.
Cabinet Member for the Local Economy Cllr Gordon Lindsay commented:
“The introduction of this skills club for the over 50s will contribute to improving local residents’ employment prospects and general business growth for the district. It will also do much to encourage local community spirit and I would urge as many eligible people as possible to come along and benefit from the many opportunities on offer.”
Gaby Aldrich, The 50+ Skills Exchange Club Manager, said: “Beta Futures is really excited to work with the council and have this opportunity to engage with the 50 plus age group in Horsham, offering opportunities to share and develop personal skills, receive further training and not least, to have some fun!”
The whole community is warmly invited to the Horsham launch. Come along for some light refreshments and learn about The 50+ Skills Exchange Club from club members themselves. RSVPs to firstname.lastname@example.org or visit their website: http://www.betafutures.com/newsite/club.html.
